Michael Scoggin
Lewis County C-1
School Board
Serving Our Schools. Serving Our Community.
Current school board member, local farmer, volunteer youth coach, and 2011 graduate of the district.
Also serving on the Lewis County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) and Port Authority boards.

I’m a lifelong member of this community and a local farmer who understands the values of hard work, responsibility, and stewardship.
I stay closely connected to our students and families by volunteering as a coach for second through kindergarten basketball. Being involved at that level keeps me grounded in what matters most – our kids, their families, and the teachers who support them every day.
I also serve on the Lewis County Port Authority Board and the Industrial Development Authority Board to help strengthen the connection between our schools and local workforce opportunities, ensuring students are prepared for life beyond graduation.

I ran for school board because I love our small towns, our community, and the close, family-centered way of life that makes this area special.
I’m the father of two young children, and seeing school through their eyes reinforces how important strong teachers, safe learning environments, and steady leadership really are.
As a board member, my focus has been on listening, supporting teachers and staff, and making thoughtful decisions that put students first while being responsible with taxpayer dollars.

As a 2011 graduate of this district, I’ve seen how much classrooms and technology have changed. I believe technology should support teachers and enhance learning not replace personal instruction.
That includes a thoughtful, common-sense approach to emerging tools like artificial intelligence, with clear policies that protect students, respect teachers’ professional judgment, and maintain academic integrity.
My goal is to help prepare students for life after graduation, whether that path leads to college, the trades, the military, or the local workforce.
I would be honored to have your support and your vote in the April school board election.
